Police Rescue 2 ‘Ritualists’ In Anambra

The police in Anambra State have rescued a man and a woman who were accused of ritual murder.

The police intervention followed a viral video of the man and the woman on WhatsApp showing them being paraded naked with the corpse of their victim being wheeled along in tow.

The police said they rescued the accused persons and that the case has nothing to do ritual murder.

In a statement, spokesman of the command, Ikenga Tochukwu, said that operatives by 10am on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, rescued two victims and a suspect who were about to be lynched at the Total Junction in Ihiala.

He said, “To set the records straight, it is not a case of ritual killing, but a pure incident of murder. Preliminary information revealed that the two victims, a man and a woman, who were humiliated and paraded as shown in the video were erroneously accused by the mob as they were seen at the scene where the murder took place.

“Also, both the suspects and the victims are currently receiving treatment in the hospital. The deceased has been deposited in a morgue.”
