Adewale Egbedun, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly’s eighth session, reiterated that the Assembly would review prior state laws.
This was stated by Egbedun on Friday while responding to inquiries from journalists in Osogbo.
Recall that on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, the speaker was chosen.
He had mentioned that the House as a whole intended to revisit offensive laws and review them during his first speech as Speaker.
He also disclosed that he had asked the Assembly Clerk to give him information about those laws.
Responding to questions, he said, “I have instructed the Clerk to come with all the necessary records and the bills. We will sit and deliberate on it.
“We know how it works. We are in the PDP. The last administration was APC. I realised from August 2022 to November, a lot of things happened.”
While insisting that the aim of the action is not to witch-hunt any person, the Speaker explained that there is a need to do the job at hand.
“We need to revisit and check them. We are not trying to attack or witch-hunt anyone, but we really need to do the job.
“We have the best interest of our people in mind, and we are ready to give it our very best,” he said.
On projected plans by the Assembly, Egbedun revealed that he and his colleagues had a lot of beautiful ideas to legislate on but were seeking the right platform to bring them to reality.
He advocated for more time as he believed his action would speak better.
