A fresh attacks by unidentified gunmen on Imande Mbakange and other nearby communities in the Mbacher Council Ward of Kastina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State have claimed fourty lives.
Recall that in the attack on June 3 that resulted in the burning down of multiple homes and the injuries of many people in the affected villages, no fewer than 28 people were purportedly slain in the communities by the unidentified armed men.
A group operating under the auspices of the Shitile Development Association’s Makurdi branch lamented the heinous killings in the area and appealed for assistance in a letter to the state government on Thursday. The letter, which was signed by the organization’s president, Door Samuel, and secretary general, Zuai Ephraim, was made available to newsmen.
The group added that the Shitile people had been subjected to vicious attacks over the previous two weeks without cause following the invasion on June 3 that killed 28 people in the Benue North East District and certain areas of Taraba State.
The organization called on the authorities to put an end to the massacre in the afflicted areas and listed the names of at least 40 people who had been killed in several attacks that were carried out simultaneously, particularly on June 4, in a number of communities in the Kastina-Ala LGA of the state.
