Hundred terrorists have been reportedly killed in a well-coordinated weeklong onslaughts by the Nigerian Airforce in the periphery of Gwoza Local Government Area in Nigeria’s north east state of Borno.

The slain territorists are from the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād(JAS) Boko Haram faction.

The airstikes that led to the obliteration of the terrorists were carried out between June 9 and 11, 2023.

The precise intelligence-led airstrikes conducted by the Air Component, under OPERATION WARUN 3 in Grazah and Wa-Jahode, in the fringes of the Mandara mountains resulted in the annihilation of the terrorists.

According to Sources, the first airstrikes were carried out in Grazah in a location under the control of the Boko Haram terrorists, which also serves as their rendez-vous.

Ground assessment by sources revealed that the Super Tukano Aircraft scored accurate hits which resulted in the elimination of a number of the Boko Haram unit commanders and high-value fighters while many more who escaped were seriously injured.

Consequently, on June 11, the Air Component carried out follow-up strikes in Wa-Jahode, which has been confirmed very successful, as many terrorists were neutralized and others said to be in critical condition.

The Air Component also destroyed many structures which served as a haven for the terrorists.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall IO Amao, launched the intensive offensive Air operation nicknamed: OPERATION WARUN 3, across all the Theatres of Operation with the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai as the main focus.

The aim is to soften the ground for the surface forces to exploit with a view to facilitating the speedy elimination of terrorists and bandits across the country.
