Vinicius Junior, a winger for Real Madrid, will wear No. 7 for the La Liga team, continuing the legacy of Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul.
After Eden Hazard’s contract was terminated this season, the venerable jersey became vacant.
Since 2019/2020, Hazard has held the No. 7 position in Real’s rankings.
Hazard toiled in the capital of Spain, and Vinicius saw a rise in popularity. The Brazilian international, who joined from Flamengo in 2018, has emerged as one of the world’s most promising players.
At just 22, Vinicius already has 59 goals in 225 appearances for the Blancos, winning two LaLiga titles and a Champions League crown.
Vinicius will be giving up No.20 in Madrid, which is expected to go to Fran Garcia following his return to the Bernabeu from Rayo Vallecano, while fellow Brazilian Rodrygo is being upgraded from 21 to 11.
