Honourable Tajudeen Abbas from Kaduna State has emerged as the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the 10th National Assembly.
The former deputy speaker Idris Wase, Sani Jaji, were defeated by Tajudeen Abbas.
Tuesday saw the election of Tajudeen Abbas as the 10th National Assembly’s Speaker of the House by the Reps.
Abbas, who was elected in an “openly declare” ballot system was elected by members of the House on Tuesday.
He defeated fellow contenders – Ahmed Wase and Sani Jaji, who polled three votes each.
Doguwa, the former majority leader of the House, put Abbas’ name forward for the role on Tuesday.
Sani Jaji and Ahmed Wase were Abbas’ opponents in the race.
Recall that Aliyu Betara and Yusuf Gagdi, two of the leading candidates for speaker, both withdrew their names in favour of Abbas, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
WITHIN NIGERIA reported that President Bola Tinubu and the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC had endorsed Abbas as the anointed candidate.
