JUST-IN: Tight Security At National Assembly As Lawmakers Arrive For Inauguration

Senators and Members-elect of the 10th Assembly came at the National Assembly building on Tuesday at 6.30am under heavy security in an effort to prevent another coup.

According to eyewitness accounts, two additional Lawmakers who were transported through SGF Gate were also guarded by security personnel. The parliamentarians were transported in four coaster buses through the Villa Gate.

Sen. Godswill Akpabio appears set to become Senate President, while Sen. Barau Jibrin is likely to be named as the Deputy Senate President, according to strong indicators about the major leadership roles. Additionally, Tajudeen Abbas is anticipated to be chosen as the House Speaker, with Benjamin Kalu taking over as his deputy.
