Festus Keyamo, former Minister of Labour and Employment, has congratulated Senator Godswill Akpabio on his election as President of the 10th National Assembly.
Akpabio defeated his closest rival, Zamfara State senator Abdulaziz Yari, with 63 votes.
After a hotly contested election, the Clerk of the National Assembly declared Akpabo and Jibrin Barau of Kano State the winners.
Keyamo in a congratulatory message on his Twitter page wrote, “Huge congratulations to the uncommon Governor, Senator, Minister (GSM) and now Senate President with whom I had an excellent relationship in the Ministry of Niger-Delta Affairs in the last dispensation.
“Expect some uncommon moments at the National Assembly with the brand new Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio.”
