Following his return to work as President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the just immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, resigned from membership in the 10th House.
On the House floor, in front of Abass and the other members of the House, Gbajabiamila presented his letter of resignation on Wednesday.
The new Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, read the letter of resignation to the members of the House after he laid it before them.
The previous Speaker then saluted the new Speaker and the lawmakers before leaving the chamber to applause and a standing ovation from the legislators.
During his two-decade law-making career in the House, Gbajabiamila was Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and Speaker at various times.
He was reelected to represent Surulere 1 Federal Constituency in Lagos State before his new appointment and was sworn in as a member of the House at the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly on Tuesday.
