The Eiye Confraternity allegedly sent two members on a vengeance mission after one of their own was killed, according to the Lagos State Police Command, which claims to have detained two of the suspected members.
In Lagos on Wednesday, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the Command, verified this to reporters.
According to Hundeyin, the suspects, who have been identified only by initials, were detained just as they were about to carry out their intentions to assassinate several members of their rival organisation, Aiye Confraternity.
He said that Mushin police officers from Olosan, who were armed with a single pistol built in the area, arrested the accused at the Mushin Bus Stop.
He said that they allegedly confessed to being members of Eiye confraternity, terrorising Abattoirs in Agege area.
The image maker said that the suspects confessed further that the gun was purchased at Mushin for the purpose of avenging the death of one of their members, who was killed by Aiye members in Abattoir, Agege.
Hundeyin said that the arrest of the suspects saved the area from another crisis as there would have been another bloody clash between the two rival groups.
He warned that the police would not tolerate any form of cult activities in the state.
He added that those who want to practice any kind of violence should either relocate from Lagos or risk the wrath of the command.
