Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has reiterated that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 presidential election, is still the ideal choice for a better Nigeria.
Following the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress and current president, as the winner. This declaration was met with legal challenges from opposition parties, including the Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi, contesting the validity of the process that resulted in Tinubu’s victory.
During a recent conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, former President Obasanjo maintained that despite President Tinubu’s official recognition as the election winner, Peter Obi remains the candidate that holds the key to the country’s progress.
Obasanjo stated, “Considering the Nigeria we need at this critical juncture, Peter Obi remains the most suitable candidate.”
When asked about his greatest legacy, the former president humbly responded, “My greatest legacy lies in the fact that I have been fortunate enough to receive God’s immeasurable kindness and experience His boundless grace during my time on this earth.”
