JUST-IN: Unknown Gunmen Invade Ondo Community, Abduct Chief Imam

Gunmen believed to be kidnappers on Saturday afternoon broke into a farm in the Uso community in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo state and kidnapped Alhaji Ibrahim Bodunde Oyinlade, the town’s chief imam.

The gun-toting hoodlums allegedly encountered the Muslim preacher as he was working on his farm and took him into the forest.

According to reports, Oyinlade, 67, went to his farm in the Uso neighbourhood of Asolo Farm Camp in the late afternoon to check on some construction.

The kidnappers, however, had contacted the family of the Chief Imam, confirming that the cleric is in their custody.

A family member confirmed that the kidnappers had contacted the family but had yet to demand ransom as of the time of filing in this report.

The state police command did not confirm the abduction but a police officer in the town said they are on the trail of the criminals.

Efforts to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Funmi Odunlami, were not successful.
