Abducted Ondo Imam Regains Freedom

Alhaji Ibrahim Bodunde Oyinlade, the Chief Imam of Uso Community in Ondo state’s Owo Local Government Area, who was kidnapped on Saturday, has been released.

On Sunday evening, Oyinlade was reportedly released along the Akure/Owo highway.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the Islamic cleric was kidnapped on his farm located at Asolo camp in the Uso community by gunmen numbering about five.

It is unclear whether the cleric paid a ransom to regain his freedom, but security sources confirmed Alhaji Oyinlade’s release to journalists in Akure, the state capital.

Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, could not be reached for comment as of press time.
