The Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has been urged by the LEADTOTS Development Initiative to appoint more women to his cabinet as he begins his second term.
According to the organization, appointing more women to his cabinet will promote gender equality and diversity.
According to a press release issued by the initiative’s executive director, Nicholas Afeso Oshojah, and made available to journalists in Bauchi yesterday, women, who account for roughly half of the state’s population, are critical to ensuring their fair representation in the cabinet.
Initiative praised the governor for involving women during his first term, but stated that more women should be appointed in the second term: “Including women in your cabinet increases the likelihood of policies and initiatives that address gender-specific issues, such as reproductive rights, pay equity, and combating gender-based violence.”
Women in positions of power, according to Oshojah, can advocate for and influence policy changes that promote gender equality and social progress, as well as establish mentorship programs to help more women advance in their careers.
According to the group, Bala Mohammaed’s recent re-election demonstrates the trust and confidence that the people of the state have in his leadership.
She said;
