Police Recover Firearm, Ammunition From Armed Robbery Suspects In Enugu

On Sunday, the Police Command in Enugu State announced that it had apprehended two cartridges—one live and the other expended—from thugs it believed to be armed robbers.

When their adversary caught up with them, the armed suspects were reportedly trying to flee the crime scene at New Artisan Bridge off the Enugu-Port Harcourt Motorway.

The news was announced in a statement by DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s spokesman, on Sunday in Enugu.

Police officers working for the New Haven Division of the Command, according to Ndukwe, accomplished the feat on June 16.

“The hoodlums abandoned their firearm with the ammunition on sighting police operatives, who immediately went on their trail, following the receipt of credible information that the miscreants were sighted in the location, perfecting their criminal plans.

“Meanwhile, discreet investigative and moves to fish out the fleeing criminal elements are underway.

“Further development on the matter shall be made public,” he said.
