A lady simply identified as Abigail has been apprehended for allegedly stabbing an 11-year-old girl, Oluebube in Rumuodara community, Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and arrest of the 32-year-old suspect.
She disclosed that the knife used to commit the crime has been successfully removed from the victim’s body.
The Police also said the victim survived the backstab and is responding to treatment while an investigation is ongoing.
Narrating what transpired the elder sister of the victim, Oluchi, told newsmen that “My sister was washing plates outside as my mother left the house to go and sell her goods. So, my sister was washing the plate, and the woman went to fetch water.
“Our corridor is dark, the person outside cannot see the person inside. And she was standing there with her water, she did not tell my sister not to come inside so that she would not hit her.
“My sister did not know, so she entered the corridor and hit the lady. The lady fell with her bucket, so she started beating my sister.
“Everybody in the compound was begging her to leave my sister, that it was a mistake. She told my sister that she was going to fetch her water and she should have swept the water before she got back.
