Our members not involved in missing placenta in Ondo hospital – NANNM

The Ondo State chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, has revealed that none of its members were involved in a missing placenta case at a hospital in the state.

While distancing its members from the incident, the association urged a thorough investigation.

Recall that a family cried out on Tuesday at Emure-Ile Comprehensive Health Centre in the state’s Owo Local Government Area about their newborn baby’s missing placenta.

In a press statement, NANNM Chairman Comrade Kehinde Olomiye stated that the two health personnel and a security guard apprehended in connection with the stolen placenta were not qualified nurses and were not members of the association.

Olomiye maintained that no nurse was arrested by the police over the incident that was insinuated.

Meanwhile, Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, confirmed that three suspects had been apprehended.

She also revealed that an investigation had been launched to determine the details surrounding the incident.
