A fresh attack on Chisu village in Mangu Local Government of Plateau State has claimed lives of eleven persons.
The deceased were burnt to death during the Tuesday night attack by suspected terrorists wreaking havoc in the beleaguered middle belt state.
According to a source, the victims ran to a house in the village to seek shelter following sporadic gunshots in the community around 11 pm but the assailants followed them to the property and razed it leading to their death.
Confirming the death of the villagers, a resident of Chisu community who escaped the attack, Michael Bulus, said the incident took place on Tuesday night.
A church and other properties were also destroyed by the rampaging terrorist, Bulus said.
“The terrorists also burnt a church along Mangu-Bokkos Road and other properties before making their escape.”
He added that the COCIN Regional Church Council Bwai along Mangu Bokkos road in the local government was also burnt by the terrorists along with other houses, vehicles, and tricycles before they fled the community.
Alabo Alfred, the Plateau State Police Command, has not issued a statement on the incident.
A source also confirmed that more security operatives had been deployed to the affected community following reports.
