Jeremiah Umaru (APC, Nasarawa), a member of Nigeria’s 10th House of Representatives, has urged young people to get involved in politics.
Umaru, who represents Nasarawa Eggon/Akwanga/Wamba federal constituency in the Green Chamber, stated that the days of politics being reserved for the elderly are long gone.
In an interview with journalists in Abuja yesterday, the lawmaker said that while youth representation in both the federal and state legislatures was encouraging, more young Nigerians should run for political office.
In the House of Representatives, there are 43 members who are under 40 years. And we have a president who is interested in youths, he said.
He also assured that the National Youth Development Commission Bill that was rejected in the 9th Assembly would be reconsidered.
