The eleven Local Government Caretaker Chairmen’s appointments and term extensions from June to December 2023 have been approved by the Gombe State House of Assembly.
This came after the state executive governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, addressed a letter to the house that was read aloud by the clerk, Barrister Rukkaiyatu Adamu Jalo, at a special session.
Hon. Adamu Saleh Pata, a member of the Yamaltu East constituency, moved a motion in that direction and urged his colleagues to swiftly pass the necessary legislation because any form of government must maintain continuity.
He however emphasised the need for synergy between the caretaker chairmen and the legislators as both are moving towards same direction in terms of governance.
In a related development, the house has also approved the request of the Governor to appoint thirty ( 30) Special Advisers for the smooth running of governance in the state.
