Some suspected hoodlums have invaded the town of Ogbomoso in Oyo State, destroying cars, houses, and other property worth millions of naira.
According to the Daily Post, the suspects stormed the town in the early hours of Wednesday.
Hoodlums wreaked havoc in Ogbomoso neighbourhoods such as Aaje, Exchange, Ladanu, and Ijeru.
According to sources, the suspects invaded the areas around 12 a.m. on Wednesday and operated for several hours, destroying houses, cars, and other property.
It was also learned from indigenes of the town that the family house of former lawmaker, Jacob Adejumo Ajao, located at Eleruko compound, was also destroyed.
Ajao represented the Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire federal constituency located at Eleruko compound.
Two water tanks, one belonging to a trader at Exchange area and the other belonging to Aaje Primary Health Centre were reportedly removed and burnt by the hoodlums.
About six parked cars, two at Aaje, three at Ladanu and one at Ijeru had their windscreens smashed by the hoodlums, according to sources who spoke with newsmen on Thursday.
A victim at Ladanu Compound, who introduced himself as Fadipe Timothy whose white Mercedes-Benz with the number plate “AA909EJG” was vandalized, revealed that the issue had been reported to security personnel at Owode police station, Ogbomoso.
“I went to Owode police station to report the incident and they came to take the photograph of my car that was destroyed”.
Alaaje of Aaje, Reuben Adesina Amao confirmed the invasion of the areas to newsmen on Thursday.
He said the hoodlums whose identities have not been ascertained destroyed many properties in the area. He added that the case has been reported to a higher authority.
He added that the security agents should be allowed to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.
Amao who spoke with newsmen during a telephone conversation revealed that, “There was a similar incident last week. But this one is enormous. They destroyed many properties including the family house of the former House of Representatives member, Captain Ajao. The governor has been contacted by our first-class Obas and they have contacted the Commissioner of Police.

“The security agents should continue to do their job. They will find out what caused it. They will unravel the root cause of the matter and bring the perpetrators to book. It is their job”.
