Rafa Benitez gets new managerial job

Rafa Benitez

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is set to take over as manager of Celta Vigo.

Benitez has been out of work since Everton fired him in January 2022.

The Spaniard had been linked with a move to the Middle East and was almost hired by Leicester City before they chose Enzo Maresca.

He has now agreed to a three-year contract with Celta to succeed Carlos Carvalhal as manager.

Benitez began his career with Real Madrid’s youth system but rose to prominence with Valencia.

The 63-year-old won two LaLiga titles before a hugely successful move to Liverpool, where he won a host of trophies during his stint at Anfield, including the Champions League and FA Cup.

Since then, Benitez has had spells with Inter Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, Real Madrid, and Newcastle.
