Gunmen suspected to be bandits wreaking havoc in Southern Kaduna have struck again.
The bandits attacked farmers at the Sabon Layi community, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing three villagers.
Recall that two farmers were killed in the state a little over a week ago.
A few weeks ago, a similar attack took place in the community, claiming nine lives. The incessant attacks and killings have made residents desert their homes.
However, a farmer, Mallam Nasir Yusuf who said he narrowly escaped the latest attack, said three farmers were killed, while others escaped with gunshot injuries
Confirming the attack, Chairman of the Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), Usman Kasai, said the victims were working on their farm when the bandits launched the attack.
Kasai identified the victims as Anas Sabonlayi, Abubakar Dankibiya and Harisu Un-Guwar Lemu, adding that they were residents of Sabon Layi, under the Kakangi ward.
Neither the state government nor the police authorities has issued any official statement regarding the incident.
