How mob killed naval officer in Ondo community – Police

The police in Ondo state have disclosed the circumstances surrounding the death of a naval officer, identified as Mr Akingbohun, in Idoani, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Akingbohun who was attached to Navy Secondary School, Imeri, was killed by some hoodlums in the community.

Shedding more light on how the incident happened, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said a six-man mob led by one Mr. Oyibo orchestrated the attack against the slain naval officer.

The PPRO disclosed that the demise of the naval officer was made known by a friend of the deceased, one Sunday Olaoluwa of Iyayu Quarters in the community.

According to the Police spokesperson, an misunderstanding spurred by a minor motorcycle-pedestrian situation degenerated into a melee that claim the deceased life.

He said the suspects, who are still at large, using iron and planks to attack the victim.

The victim was later taken to the General Hospital in Ido-Ani, where he was pronounced dead.

As a result of the incident, Idoani has reportedly become a ghost town, with residents fleeing after naval officers allegedly descended on the town in search of the suspects.
