Leicester City are close to signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks, according to reports in England, as they begin the 2023/24 season in the Championship.
Following their relegation to the Championship last season, the Foxes are expected to lose several first-team players as a result.
Youri Tielemans has already left the King Power Stadium on a free transfer to join Aston Villa.
Spurs are also expected to sign James Maddison in the coming days.
Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho of the Super Eagles, who both have a year left on their contracts, are also expected to leave the club.
Ndidi’s departure could be disastrous for Leicester, but the club appears to have found a suitable replacement.
Enzo Maresca, the new manager of Leicester City, has already compiled a list of potential replacements, with Harry Winks a top transfer target.
Maresca believes the midfielder has the ability and versatility to become an important member of his Championship squad.
After falling out of favour at Tottenham, Winks, 27, spent last season on loan at Sampdoria.
The former England international has one year left on his contract with the Lilywhites, but he is expected to depart as part of a major squad overhaul before the 2023-24 season begins.
Ndidi has recently been linked with a move to Celtic, but Football Scotland recently reported that the deal is unlikely to go through because the Hoops do not prioritize the Nigerian.
