Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has promised to address the state’s annual flooding and teacher shortage.
When the governor received the Emir of Dutse, Muhammad Na”Iim Nuhu Sanusi, who paid him a salah homage at the Government House in Dutse, he spoke.
The governor stated that his administration would do everything possible within its limited resources to improve the living conditions of Jigawa residents.
This includes, according to him, improving the education sector, infrastructure, public healthcare service delivery, agriculture, economic empowerment, and combating environmental degradation and flooding, which kills people and destroys property every year.
We will also continue to collaborate with security agencies, traditional rulers, religious/community leaders and the general public in promoting peace, unity and progress in our dear state.
We have been part of the immediate past state government and we have seen the efforts made in developing the state, therefore we are reiterating our promise to continue with all its good programs and projects as well as coming up with new ones according to the time and needs for peace and prosperity of our state, he said.
The Emir of Dutse, who held a Durbar with his chiefs and thousands of horse riders, congratulated the governor and people of the emirate on the occasion.
He urged the governor to prioritise problems in the state’s education sector, particularly teacher shortages and grazing reserve encroachment, which contributes to farmer/herder clashes.
