Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian and Napoli striker, prefers a move to Manchester United or Real Madrid over other top clubs in Europe interested in his talents.
Salvatore Bagni, a former Napoli legend who won the Scudetto and Coppa Italia double with Diego Maradona in 1987, has stated that he does not expect Osimhen to return to a country where he has already played and will accept nothing less than Champions League football.
Victor Osimhen won’t return to France because he already played there. The same thing with Germany,” Bagni said.
He doesn’t go to Liverpool or Chelsea because they do not play the Champions League. Of all the teams associated with him, for me, he would only go to Manchester United and Real Madrid. He’s not interested in the other teams.
If Bagni’s prediction is correct, Osimhen was linked with Bayern Munich but began his senior career at Wolfsburg, while PSG’s hopes of signing the Nigerian may be hampered by the season the 24-year-old spent at Lille before joining Napoli in 2019/2020.
Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League last season and will compete in the Europa League, while Chelsea will be absent from European competition entirely after finishing 12th in the English top flight.
Osimhen scored 31 goals in 39 games for Napoli in all competitions, making him one of the continent’s deadliest strikers. According to Transfermarkt, the football news, transfer rumours, and statistics medium, he is the third most valuable striker in the world at €120 million, trailing only Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, who are both valued at €180 million.
This season, Osimhen became the first African to be crowned Goal King of Italy, scoring 26 Serie A goals.
He surpassed former World Footballer of the Year George Weah, Samuel Eto’o, and Obafemi Martins to become Africa’s first top-scoring striker in the top league.
