Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the February election, has expressed shock over the deaths of 15 Salvation Army Ministry members in a vehicle accident.
Obi made the announcement on Saturday via his official Twitter account.
On Thursday, Salvation Army Ministry members were killed in an accident on the Benin-Lagos motorway.
The terrible tragedy occurred near Benin City, the capital of Edo State, on a bridge across the Ovia River.
As a result, 12 pastors, a baby, and the driver were killed, while others were hospitalised.
Obi expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and the Salvation Army Ministry in response to the catastrophe.
“I received with shock the heartwrenching report of a fatal road accident involving members of the Salvation Army. “I pray for the quick recovery of the injured. May God grant eternal rest to the dead”, he wrote.
Similarly, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and Akwa Ibom state Governor, Umo Eno condoled with the families of those who died and the Salvation Army Ministry.
