Residents of the NASFAT community, Felele phase II, a suburb of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, have been complaining about the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company’s (AEDC) lack of power delivery for several months.
Hon Sani Ibrahim, Community Chairman, and Raji Omuya, Chairman Committee on Electricity, announced this on Monday in a Save Our Soul letter submitted to the AEDC Lokoja headquarters.
The group bemoaned that the development had continued to cause hardship in the neighbourhood, thereby paralysing economic activity.
They claimed that hoodlums are now taking advantage of the power outage to continue all types of illegal activity.
The community petitioned AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello for a new transformer.
The letter reads in part “We are calling on AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello to quickly come to our aid. Our community has been suffering from total blackout for several months. Economic activities have been crippled, hoodlums are taking advantage of this situation.
“All we are asking for is a new transformer to fix our electricity problem. We have made contributions within ourselves to restore power back to our community but it is far above us, that is why we are making this passionate appeal for AEDC and Governor Bello to come and save us from these long months of darkness and hardship.”
