Dr Levi Uzoukwu (SAN), the leading counsel for the Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of failing to prepare for its case before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPC).
Uzoukwu made this remark on Monday, shortly after the court adjourned its resumption of proceedings due to the absence of INEC’s first defence witness.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, the LP lawyer stated that his camp has a strong case and is ready to move forward with their case, in contrast to the INEC, which has continued to show inconsistencies.
Given the contradictions and inconsistencies and what INEC has done; I’m sure they are not ready to defend this case.
I stand to be proven wrong, but I would wish that they defend this matter so that the public will see more things of what happened to this election, he told Channels Television.
While reiterating that Nigeria has never had an election like the one on February 25th, the legal counsel emphasised that it is up to the INEC to call a witness or witnesses and that he and his client, the LP, are prepared at all times.
