Stop exaggerating insecurity in Anambra, Soludo tells residents

Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has advised residents to stop criticising the government and exaggerating the state’s insecurity.

The governor issued the advice through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, in a press release distributed to Awka journalists on Monday.

The CPS also emphasised the numerous negative consequences of exaggerating insecurity in any society.

He emphasised that insecurity is a global phenomenon, not unique to Anambra State or a particular society, as it affects every state, region, and country in the world, including the developed nations.

According to him, no society in the world is ever completely safe, even if responsible governments do their best to fulfil their primary constitutional responsibility of securing lives and property.

Aburime, who also went national and international to highlight the various types of insecurity that plague various states, regions, and countries around the world, stated that the citizens of those places never badmouthed their states, regions, or countries to the outside world. At the same time, visitors, tourists, and investors never stopped travelling to and investing in those places.

He regretted, however, that the opposite is true in Anambra State, where some citizens are bent on disparaging their own state with exaggerated tales of insecurity and engaging in mischievous hyping up of terrifying insecurity to discourage visitors and investors.

While emphasising the need for Anambra citizens to resist the temptation to badmouth their state or spread exaggerated stories of insecurity, Aburime, who highlighted the various achievements of the current administration in the fight against insecurity in the State, also urged citizens to emulate citizens of other countries who do not badmouth their countries but rather continue to play their respective roles as citizens to improve the situation.
