Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has praised Mr Peter Egbudom, Chairman of the 2023 IgboFest, Minnesota, United States, for promoting Nigerian culture abroad.
Dabiri-Erewa made the remark on Wednesday when she received the chairman of IgboFest 2023 in her Abuja office.
Culture, according to the NIDCOM CEO, is the flora and fauna of the people.
I am so glad you want to make it bigger this time,” she said. I hope you put this festival on the map because it represents an amazing culture that the world should be aware of.
Egbudom, who was delighted to invite the NiDCOM boss to the event, urged the federal government to capitalise on Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage because there are numerous opportunities to attract foreign direct investment to the country through tourism and culture.
The cultural ambassador also stated that the 28th edition of the festival will feature a display of various Nigerian cultures and cuisines from across the country in order to promote Nigeria.
He said;
The world is becoming more interdependent, wherever you are in the globe, you are likely to interact with people from other cultures, this event will help us better understand other cultures and accept our diversity.
The festival’s chairman also described it as a way to boost the self-esteem of the younger generation by providing them with a sense of identity, engaging them, and diverting their attention away from depression, drug abuse, and the like.
The 28th edition of the festival is scheduled for August 11th and 12th, 2023 in Minnesota, US.
