Victor Uwajeh, an International Investigator Evangelist based in the United Kingdom, has advised President Bola Tinubu to ensure the recovery of stolen funds by Politically Exposed Persons and government agents.
Uwajeh, a former Special Investigator for the Special Presidential Investigation Panel For The Recovery Of Public Property (SPIPP), advised that recovery efforts should concentrate on the following areas: oil subsidy fraud; crude oil liftings and non-remittances; crude oil SWAP agreements; offshore crude oil processing agreements; duty waiver fraud; and rice subsidy fraud.
The consultant for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) also advised the president to investigate all Federal Agencies of Government for massive fraud.
Uwajeh charged Tinubu with lacking the political will to combat corruption and impunity in Nigeria, saying, “Looting of public funds has become endemic in Nigeria, and this is done with impunity, knowing that nothing will be done to the perpetrators of these crimes.”
It is also important for the administration of Bola Tinubu to implement the “Presidential Executive Order No. 008 of 2018, (Amended 2019) on the Voluntary Offshore Assets Regularization Scheme” “VOARS”.
The implementation of this Executive Order will greatly assist the government and will be a game changer in terms of primitive asset acquisition by Politically Exposed Persons and their cronies.
Uwajeh, on the other hand, praised President Tinubu for appointing security chiefs, particularly National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, whom he described as an expert and dependable compatriot.
Uwajeh, on the other hand, charged President Tinubu with avoiding mediocrity in the appointment of people to his administration. His watchwords must be capability and excellence.
