- Residents alerted Anti-cult unit of the police who invaded the community
- An axe was drawn on the body of the cow
A cow that was purportedly intended for use in celebrating a cult’s yearly festival has been taken by members of the Osun State Police Command’s anti-cultism section.
On Saturday, a trustworthy security source reported that the event took place on Friday in Osogbo’s Egbatedo neighbourhood.
In a photo that our correspondent was able to obtain, the name “Oroki” was written on the cow, and an axe was also drawn on its body.
The incident was confirmed by Yemisi Opalola, the public relations officer for the Osun State Police.
She said, “After intelligence revealed plans by a particular cult to celebrate the 7/7 festival, the CP ordered operatives to ensure that the plan by these cultists fail.
“The operatives, working in line with that directive, combed every part of the state and went to Egbatedo, a suburb of Osogbo. When the suspects saw them, they fled but the cow they planned to use for the celebration was seized.
“We want to assure people of the state that the command will continue to work hard to keep the state very safe.”
