Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a businesswoman identified, Mrs Onyi Ugba, in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital.
She was abducted at Okija Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt City local government area of the State.
She was abducted after the heavily armed men numbering about five stormed the superstore of Ugba on Friday.
It’s gathered that the criminals demanded that the businesswoman hand over all the money she made from sales to them.
A local, who witnessed the incident, said that the gunmen became angry when the woman was unable to provide the amount of money they demanded.
According to our source, the people around the scene of the incident scampered for safety after the gunmen shot sporadically, before whisking the business woman away.
Operatives of the Mile 1 Police station arrived at the scene minutes after the hoodlums had left.
hHowever, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, assured that the police is on the case to ensure the rescue of the victim and the arrest of the perpetrators.
Recall that armed criminals had in December 2022, robbed Onyi Ugba of a huge sum of money running into millions, when they stormed her superstore on the same Okija Street.
Also in November Last year, two kidnapped victims were rescued including a job seeker and ten suspected kidnappers arrested by the police in Rivers State.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, who disclosed this in a statement said that the job seeker, Adele Emmanuel, was lured from Delta State to Port Harcourt for a non-existent employment.
“The trio of Bright Williams ‘m’ 22yrs, Queen Effiong Edem ‘f’ 20yrs and Ndidi Apaka ’m’ were arrested in connection with the case of kidnapping of Adele Emmanuel who was lured from Delta State to Port Harcourt for a non-existent employment,” the PPRO stated
