- SDP candidate Kenneth Gbagi submits 4,978 documents to Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal against 13 respondents
- Documents include EC8A, EC8B, EC8C forms, BVAS reports, and certificates of compliance
- Documents admitted as exhibits by tribunal despite objections from respondents’ counsel; Gbagi contests election conduct and INEC’s declaration of PDP candidate as winner
The Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba has accepted a total of 4,978 documents submitted by the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) governorship candidate, Kenneth Gbagi, against 13 respondents.
Kenneth Gbagi, a former Minister of State for Education, was said to have presented the documents to the three-man tribunal led by Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu over the weekend.
The petitioner submitted 4,634 forms of EC8A from 20 of the 25 councils, 322 forms of EC8B from the same number of councils, 20 forms of EC8C, and one form each of EC8D and EC8E.
Other documents include two BVAS reports with receipts and certificates of compliance, as well as one flash drive with a certificate of compliance.
At the resumed hearing of the petitioner’s petition, the documents admitted in evidence by the court were tendered through Magaji Mato Ibrahim (SAN), counsel to the petitioner.
The documents were admitted and marked as exhibits by the three-man panel tribunal despite opposition from counsel for the first through thirteenth respondents, who reserved their grounds of objection to final written addresses.
Gbagi is contesting the conduct of the March 18, 2023, governorship election, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) subsequent declaration of Sheriff Oborevwori of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the election’s winner.
Missing Ex-ASUU president, Fasina found in Turkey
A former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dipo Fasina, popularly known as ‘Jingo’, who was declared missing, has been found.
He was found at Istanbul Airport, Turkey, according to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
The former ASUU chair was said to have gone missing “for a few days” at Istanbul Airport while connecting on a flight back to Nigeria.
But, in a tweet on Sunday, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission said Fasina was found following a search by officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Turkey at the busy Istanbul Airport.
NiDCOM said the don would be on his way to Nigeria on Monday (today).
It lauded Nigeria’s High Commission in Turkey for its collaborative efforts to locate the scholar.
NiDCOM wrote, “The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in Turkey, has successfully located Prof. Fasina, who went missing for a few days at Istanbul Airport while connecting on a flight back home.
Mr Fasina, 76, was travelling to Algeria when he was said to have missed his connecting flight from Istanbul, Turkey.
A big thanks to the Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey, who immediately sent officials to the airport to physically locate him in the very busy and huge Istanbul Airport.
