Omuo-Ekiti: Youths storm streets, protest alleged relocation of college to Ilawe-Ekiti

Youths of Omuo-Ekiti have stormed streets to show their grievances over alleged relocation of the Federal College of Education to Ilawe-Ekiti.

Recall that on Saturday, July 2, protesters comprising youths, women and traditional rulers also staged a protest to decry the relocation of the college to Ilawe-Ekiti.

It was learnt that the protesters majorly youths had as early as 9 a.m gathered and blocked major roads in the town to show their grievances.

It was further learnt that there was no human or vehicular movements which paralyzed commercial activities in the town owing to the protest which lasted for hours.

A video obtained by WITHIN NIGERIA showed protesters holding placards with different inscriptions such as Return Our FCE back to us; Don’t rub Peter to pay Paul; FCE belongs to Omuo Ekiti,” among others.

A yet-to-be identified woman probably in his fifties while addressing a reporter appealed to enforcement agencies to wade in and restore normalcy.

The ALGON secretary, Kwara chapter further stated that they have waited in the traffic for hours and plying the road at night would be catastrophic because the road is in a bad shape.
