- Dangiwa says Tinubu should focus on reclaiming Nigeria from being a failed state
Col. Abubakar Umar Dangiwa (Rtd), a former military governor of Kaduna State, called on President Bola Tinubu on Monday to close his open doors to those he described as “desperate lobbyists” for various appointments in his government.
Dangiwa specifically warned the President against considering former governors for any position, claiming they bankrupted their respective states and caused ethnic and religious divisions when in power.
In a statement made available to Daily Trust, the retired senior military officer told Tinubu that he could not afford to deviate from the onerous task of reclaiming the country, which is already classified as a failed state.
Mr President, please avoid the company of people who show embarrassing desperation in lobbying for appointments in your government.
Public Office is a trust which should not be extended to persons of dubious character particularly former governors who have bankrupted their states and left them with heavy debt burden and deeply divided along ethnic and religious lines.
You cannot afford to be diverted from the onerous task of reclaiming the country which Dr Umar Ardo correctly characterised as a failed state, he said.
During his eight-year tenure, Dangiwa has been a vocal voice in the country and a known critic of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
In 2021, he accused President Buhari’s administration of failing to manage the country’s diversity.
He found it strange and disturbing that the Federal Government was paying undue attention to the threats posed by separatist movements rather than the more dangerous threats posed by bandits, kidnappers, and insurgents in the Northwest, some parts of the North Central and North East.
I Supported Lawan, But Won Election for Tinubu
Despite working for Senator Ahmad Lawan in the run-up to the party’s presidential primaries, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed on Tuesday that he deserved some recognition, if only for overseeing President Bola Tinubu’s victory.
Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of ARISE NEWS, Adamu insisted that there was no truth to the rumours that he and the president had issues, noting that, prior to the rise of Tinubu, he was free to back anybody he pleased.
He claimed that the APC had difficulties with how the lawmakers handled communication and that he had also been misrepresented regarding his views on the freshly elected principal officials of the national assembly.
Adamu said those who have issues against him have always had the opportunity to air their views at their national meetings, explaining that Saliu Lukman, for instance, who has always accused him of running a one-man show, has always attended those meetings.
