The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has formed a disciplinary committee to investigate the actions of its youth leader, Prince Haliru Mahmoud Dantsoho, regarding his outburst regarding a former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, in a viral video on social media. Dantsoho called for the accountability of funds for the state’s presidential campaign in 2023.
He said;
We are not fighting the leader, Saraki. But we want accountability and independence of the party.
And the fundamental question is we want to know how much was received for the 2023 presidential election, who received the money and how it was spent, that is all.
Dantsoho faced a barrage of criticism from state party leaders following his outburst.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Tunji Morounfoye, the party condemned the youth leader’s unguarded outburst.
He claimed Dantsoho’s actions brought the PDP’s state working committee and party members into disrepute.
He said;
The SWC has set up a disciplinary committee that would look into the youth leader’s actions and report back to the party within seven days.
Party members will be notified of the outcome of the disciplinary committee’s findings and appropriate recommendations.
NAFDAC warns the public against the consumption of artificially ripened fruits
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has warned members of the public against the consumption of fruits artificially ripened with calcium carbide.
The agency also expressed concerns over the illegal hawking of drugs in the open markets across the country, reiterating its determination to rid Nigeria of the menace of substandard and falsified medicines, unwholesome foods, corrosive cosmetics, and other substandard regulated products.
NAFDAC said it had noticed the dangerous practice of sale and consumption of fruits artificially ripened with calcium carbide, describing it as dangerous to human health.
Ripening is a unique aspect of plant development, which makes the fruit edible, softer, sweeter, more palatable, nutritious, and attractive.
