A man simply identified as Chigozie has allegedly killed his girlfriend in Umuahia, Abia State state capital.
Chigozie, a tricycle operator, committed the crime on Wednesday but was caught by vigilant locals.
The villagers swooped in on him while dumping the remains of deceased inside a bush.
Chigozie, who is a resident of Ajata Ibeku, allegedly had a physical confrontation with the unidentified girlfriend when the girl tripped and hit her head on the floor and died.
Another villager also claimed that Chigozie was having a “marathon sex” with his girlfriend during which the girl died.
According to the villager who identified himself as Nze, the suspect was caught by some youths of the community after he had finished dumping the lifeless body of his dead girlfriend in the dustbin and attempted to escape.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been handed over to the Police for investigation, while the corpse of the dead girlfriend has been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Chioma Maureen Chinaka is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
Meanwhile, One Piller Erekwa has been remanded at the maximum security custodial centre in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, for allegedly defiling a minor.
A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt ordered the remand of Erekwa, a new generation church pastor, on Thursday.
He was arraigned by the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Rivers State Police Command on a one-count charge of sexual abuse.
The accused (Piller Erekwa ) pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him that he sexually abused a 15-year-old girl in Mgbuola village in Ndele, Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State between December 2022 and January 2023 thereby committing an offence punishable by the law of Rivers State.
