The release of Ganduje’s former commissioner of works, Engr Idris Wada Saleh, accused of N1 billion fraud, has been ordered by Justice S. A Amobeda of a Federal High Court in Kano.
A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court recently ordered the accused to be remanded in the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) custody.
The defendant faces a two-count charge of false information, return, and cheating.
According to the agency, the defendant released N1 billion to Arafat construction company, No stone construction company, and Multi Resources in 2023 for the rehabilitation of 30 roads in the metropolis, but none were completed.
The judge barred the Respondents, their agents, servants, privies, and/or anyone acting on their behalf from further arresting, detaining, or intimidating the Applicant until the Originating Motion was heard and decided.
He also ordered the two respondents to stay any further proceedings in the case until the originating Motion was heard and decided.
For such further orders’ as this Honourable court may deem fit to make in the circumstance of this suit. Having read through the affidavit in support of the Application duly sworn to by Ibrahim Idris Abdulaziz, male, adult, Muslim, Nigerian Citizen of No.16 Zaria Road, Kano State. Attached to the Application are three Annexures marked as Exhibits A1, B2 and C3 and a Written Address of Counsel.
Court fixes new date for Ganduje’s fundamental human rights suit
A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has scheduled a new date for the commencement of hearings into the enforcement of the Fundamental Human Rights of former Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje in the case of the alleged stockpiling of dollars in a viral video.
The court has fixed July 21, 2023, for the commencement of the hearing on the suit filed by Ganduje against the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission and seven others regarding his alleged involvement in the dollar video clips.
Ganduje, who the state anti-graft agency invited to answer questions on the alleged financial scandal, had previously obtained an interim ex parte order restraining the agency, the Inspector General of Police, the State Security Service, and five other respondents from arresting him in relation to the matter.
