APC NWC announces Adamu, Omisore’s resignations

APC NEC meeting postponed, new date to be announced

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

The acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Abubakar Kyari, who confirmed Adamu’s resignation, said the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, also resigned.

He said he takes over as acting chairman while Deputy National Secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter takes over as acting Secretary.

The meeting also announced the postponement of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings slated for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Seventeen members of the committee were in attendance with only National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka and the National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu absent after due permission.

He said: “The NWC wishes to inform you of the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

“It is now incumbent on me as the Deputy National Chairman, North, and the Deputy National Secretary to assume the roles.’

Kyari announced that the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday have been postponed.

He added that a new date for the meetings would be announced.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that at the meeting presided over by the Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Abubakar Kyari, the National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore was reportedly barred from entering, even as his parking lot was taking over by his deputy.

Omisore, who left the secretariat as soon as he came in, said he was going to meet Adamu, adding that he did not know why the former Nasarawa Governor was not at the secretariat.

Some of the NWC members at the meeting with Kyari included deputy national chairman (South) Emma Enukwu; national vice chairman (North West), Salihu Lukman; national vice chairman (North East), Salihu Mustapha; national vice chairman (North Central), Muazu Bawa; national vice chairman(South West), Issacs Kekemeke; national vice chairman (South East), Ejoroma Arodiogu and the deputy national secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter.
