As Muslims around the world celebrate the new Islamic Year 1445 AH, Senator Jibrin Barau, CON, has congratulated fellow Muslims and other Nigerians on the New Year and the commemoration of Prophet Muhammad’s migration (Hijra) from Makkah to Madinah.
In a statement issued by his media office, Barau, who represents Kano North Senatorial District, urged Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of compassion, peace, and support for one another enshrined in the Islamic religion.
As we celebrate the new Islamic Year, 1445 AH, let us reflect on the importance and historical significance of the Hijra and the overall teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and follow his examples, he enjoined.
The Deputy Senate President assured Nigerians of the National Assembly’s commitment to enact legislation that would assist President Bola Ahmed Tinubu carry out his campaign promises as encapsulated in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He urged citizens to continue to support the administration, assuring them that President Tinubu’s policies would address the country’s challenges.
The direction is clear and the policies are well-thought-out and geared towards addressing the challenges facing us as a country. With our support at the parliament and the understanding of Nigerians, the promised land is assured, where things will work for all, Senator Barau said.
Kano, Osun declare Wednesday work free day
The Kano State Government has declared Wednesday, July 19, work-free to mark the beginning of the 1445 Islamic (Hijrah) New Year.
This was contained in a statement issued by Baba Dantiye, the Commissioner for Information, on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday, NAN reports.
The governor, who congratulated Muslims globally on the new Islamic year, charged civil servants and other people in Kano to pray for peace and tranquillity and the economic development of the state and Nigeria at large.
Yusuf also called on the people to live their lives based on the teachings of Islam.
