On Thursday, Funmilayo Aduloju, a 40-year-old woman, was arraigned before the Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court by the Ekiti State Police Command. She stands accused of allegedly biting and injuring another lady, with the charge against her being assault.
According to Inspector Johnson Okunade, the incident occurred on July 12 around 8.30 p.m. at the Ekute area of Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
“The defendant assaulted one Adetutu Abegunde by biting her with teeth on her left eye while fighting, which inflicted serious injury on her.
“The offence contravened Section 185 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021,” he said.
Inspector Okunade requested an adjournment to study the case file and gather witnesses.
Funmilayo Aduloju pleaded not guilty to the charge, and her counsel, Opeyemi Esan, appealed to the court for bail, assuring that she would not attempt to evade the legal proceedings.
Chief Magistrate Mr. A.O Adeosun granted bail to the defendant in the amount of N100,000 with one surety who must provide the same sum.
The case is scheduled for further proceedings on August 3.
In another news, A 80-year-old man identified as Micheal and 60-year-old Oladosu have been paraded by the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps for allegedly vandalising equipment of the Ekiti State Water Corporation at Okemesi Ekiti in the Ekiti West Local Government area of the state.
Brig Gen. Joe Komolafe (retd.), the Corps Commandant while parading the suspects on Wednesday, said Michael and Oladosu were arrested by Amotekun operatives at Okemesi Ekiti while allegedly vandalising equipment belonging to the state water corporation.
He said the corps operatives also arrested three suspects for allegedly breaking into a residential house in the Tinuola area of Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
Komolafe said the suspects, 26-year-old Rufai, 30-year-old Ibrahim and 30-year-old Yahaya, were apprehended with the support of residents of the area.
