Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, has urged youths across the country to be diligent and rise to take their place in rebuilding the country.
She delivered the address in Abuja at the National Convention of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN).
The event’s theme was “The Role of Christian Youths in National Building.”
The First Lady, who was represented at the event by the wife of the president’s chief of staff, Salamotu Gbajabiamila, said that despite the magnitude of Nigeria’s challenges, the country would reach its full potential.
She encouraged young people to emulate and imbibe virtues such as courage, integrity, humility, and obedience to God, as exemplified by biblical figures who shaped history.
There is no doubt that youths have a huge role to play both in the body of Christ and the country as a whole.
There are examples in the scripture of young men and women, such as Joseph, Gideon, David, Debora, Esther, Jeremiah, Timothy and Elisha, who demonstrated their love and were used greatly for God and their nation, she said.
Her charge to the youth was echoed in the sermon of Deeper Life Bible Church’s General Superintendent, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, who also tasked youths with confronting the giants that the country is currently facing.
While raising questions about who is responsible for saving and redeeming the country, he emphasised the importance of youths first confronting lawlessness and corruption and rising above false realities.
He stated that this would assist the youth in becoming fit and useful for the task at hand, particularly for those aspiring to become leaders in various spheres of life.
Earlier, Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere, national chairman of the YOWICAN, urged youths across the country to instil the spirit of determination, discipline, and dedication in order to secure their future.
