The gunmen who abducted a Port Harcourt-based journalist, Priestba Anthony-Wokocha, want a ransom of N150 million to free her.

Anthony-Wokocha is also a Director of News, Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation.

The husband of the journalist, Anthony Wokocha, revealed this when members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Rivers State branch, paid a visit to the family, to empathize with them on the unfortunate incident.

He said the kidnappers contacted him on Saturday and asked him to get the ransom for his wife’s freedom.

He also disclosed that the matter is being handled by a special unit of the Rivers State Police Command.

Within Nigeria had reported on Sunday how gunmen terrorising Nigeria’s oil rich southern state of Rivers abducted Anthony-Nwokocha.

She was reportedly kidnapped the in Port Harcourt on her way home from work.

The Director of Administration, RSBC, Pastor Ebi Ogolo, confirmed the development to journalists.

She said Anthony-Nwokocha was kidnapped between Slaughter and the YKC area of Port Harcourt on Friday evening.

He pleaded with security agencies to urgently intervene and ensure her quick and safe release.
