Calvin Bassey, a defender for Ajax, is getting closer to leaving the Dutch Eredivisie giants after being dropped from their training tour to Germany.

After expressing interest in joining Marco Silva’s side, the Nigerian is set to undergo a medical with Fulham this week.

Meanwhile, Fulham were reportedly planning to make a decision between Bassey and Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu in order to strengthen their defence.

According to Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the Cottagers are interested in both African players for the left-sided centre-back position, even though negotiations with Ajax over the transfer of Bassey are ongoing.

According to Sky Sports, Fulham are close to finalizing deals for both players, with Salisu’s deal valued at more than £15 million and Bassey’s at £18 million.

Both deals result from uncertainty surrounding Nigeria defender Tosin Adarabioyo’s future at the club, with Fulham hoping to cash in on him before his contract expires at the end of next season.

Contract talks for Adarabioyo have broken down, and Tottenham Hotspur have recently requested more information about the 25-year-old, suggesting that he could be on his way to north London this summer.

When he completes his move to AC Milan, Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze will earn a significant pay increase.

Chukwueze is expected to join AC Milan from Villarreal this summer for around €20 million.

The Super Eagles star will undergo a medical this week before signing a long-term contract with the Italian giants.

Chukwueze will reportedly receive a significant pay increase when he completes his move, making the Nigerian winger one of AC Milan’s highest earners.
