Kidnapped Rivers Broadcasting Corporation boss regains freedom

She was released on Wednesday

Port Harcourt-based journalist, Mrs Priestba Anthony-Wokocha, has been released by her captors.

Anthony-Wokocha, who is the Director of News, Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, was kidnapped last week by unknown gunmen.

She was released last night by her abductors, according to a family source familiar with the development.

The family member, who revealed the development to Today FM, a radio station in Port Harcourt, said it was unclear whether any ransom was paid before her release.

In the meantime, the Rivers State Police Command is yet to confirm the development to journalists.

The kidnappers had initially contacted the family of Mrs Anthony-Wokocha, to pay the sum of N150m for her release and later reduced the amount to N10m.

Anthony-Wokocha was kidnapped at gunpoint on her way from work last week at about 8pm, after her vehicle developed a fault.
