- Scheme said relocation in line with laid down policy
The National Youth Service Corps has urged prospective corps members, corps-producing institutions and corps members to report any infractions on the deployment and relocation policies of the scheme.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the NYSC, Eddy Megwa.
According to the statement, redeployment, mobilisation and deployment of corps members were all free of charge in accordance with the deployment and relocation policies of the scheme.
The scheme, therefore, urged corps members and their institutions to report any infractions against the policies to NYSC formations across the country, its National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, or any other security agencies, for prompt action.
The statement read, “The management of the National Youth Service Corps wishes to reiterate that Deployment and Relocation of Prospective Corps Members, as well as Corps Members, are carried out free of charge, and in accordance with the Deployment and Relocation policies of the Scheme.
“Accordingly, Relocation of Corps Members is effected on individual merit, in line with the laid down policy.
“In addition, mobilisation of Prospective Corps Members for national service is free of charge, as Corps Producing Institutions do not pay for that.
“Any infraction on the above policies should be reported to the Heads of the nearest NYSC formations nationwide, NYSC National Directorate Headquarters Abuja, and or the security agencies for prompt action.”
Similarly, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), on Thursday, cautioned corps members posted to Gombe State against improper dressing.
The scheme’s Director, Northeast Area Office, Mr Ahidjo Yahaya, gave the warning when he visited the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp in the Amada community in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Yahaya while addressing the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream I corps members said he was at the camp to interact with them as well as the camp officials.
He said that corps members had a duty to always be good ambassadors within and outside the camp while ensuring that they serve as role models to youths and children living in their host communities.
“Today, I want to give a stern warning on improper use of the NYSC uniform; as corps members groomed and fully equipped for nation-building, you must be an example for the younger ones in the society.
