Why our officers shot dead two people in Lagos – NDLEA

NDLEA justifies actions of the operatives

Hoodlums attack NDLEA operatives

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has justified the action of its officers who reportedly shot two people dead in Lagos.

The operatives killed the deceased during a raid in the Idioro area of Mushin.

Reacting to the development, the agency said the operatives were defending themselves when they shot the victims.

In an interview with newsmen on Thursday, NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi said the agency’s operatives came under attack on Wednesday night when it raided Mushin to arrest drug barons behind shipments of drugs from Ghana.

He explained that the agency’s operatives resorted to self-defence to escape the attack.

He revealed that the suspected drug barons are Saheed Solola and Suleiman Shehu.

He added that the agency arrested the suspects with drug shipments and vehicles.

“Our men on Wednesday night went to Mushin to arrest the baron behind shipments of drugs that have been coming from Ghana.

“After the arrest of some of the wanted suspects and recovery of drugs and their vehicles, our men came under attack from their boys, who had locked all the exit gates in the community, and our officers had to defend themselves to come out of the area alive”, he said.

This is the second time this month operatives of the agency have killed someone. Couple of weeks ago, officers of the anti-narcortic agency killed 2-year-old Ivan Omhonrina at Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The infant was hit by a stray bullet fired by an NDLEA officer during the agency’s operation in the local government.
